Zombieload is back. First discovered in May of this year, it was described as a successor to the infamous Meltdown attack that impacted all Intel processor generations from 2011 and beyond.
Zombieload wasn’t resolved quickly by Intel and put user’s data at risk for several months before being fixed with an update release on January 9th 2019… But now there are reports of Zombieload 2.0 emerging which poses similar threats but we’ll have to wait until more information comes out about how exactly it operates or if any patches will be launched against this new variant soon enough so users can protect themselves from potential leaks like they did last time around when another side-channel vulnerability emerged just after Spectre & Meltdown were patched under CVE
